HP Pavilion supports wireless internet access.
The best way to connect to a router is make sure it's settings are correct.
If you know how to get into your Wireless router change the settings if not follow the steps below.
open IE (internet explorer) and type 192.168.1.1
you will be prompted username/password. It's usually admin/password
Go to Wireless --> Security --> Select Security Mode (WPA Personal) then choice a password below it. SAVE IT and you're good to go.
Go to your Laptop and search for network and you'll see the Router. Select it and enter the PASSWORD you entered. That should work. If not, my best recommendation is buy CISCO Wireless Router (40$) from walmart tomorrow
Have a Great Merry Christmas and Good luck

Judging by the specs of your notebook, you will most likely have to purchase a wireless card for it. Once you have done that, you would need a wireless access point to connect to.
