Polish Americans but I am scared of Italian Americans

i do not think they are lower or higher on a social ladder. Color of their skin has little to do with their status. The majority of Americans are not prejudiced but are very tolerant in comparison to other societies. Both ethnic groups have assimilated into our society. When their migration to the US., for Italians this started in the early 20th century,. the Polish immigration was after WW II. Both ethnic groups were persecuted to some extent but asimulated and today no one cares. The Irish also had to adjust when they arrived. Every group gets picked on when they arrive.
Today it is Eastern Europeans and African migrants who are having the hard time. But they will assimilate also.
All these groups sacrificed everything to come to America through a legal process. This is not an easy process to go through..
Mexicans and other Latinos, no matter how sincere they are, should migrate legally and make an effort to adopt to our society and culture. The other ethnic groups above had to pay their dues and had to sacrifice.

Maybe stereotypes have something to do with your question, but I think it is kind of taboo in this day and age to even talk about something like this, we are no longer in the 1950's and it is not okay to refer to someone according to nationality. From the people that I speak to on a daily basis I see that the groups of people that still refer to social ladder based on race are the ones that are actually on the low end of the ladder. What nationality are you?......and does it feel good when someone slams it?
