With a hiatal hernia, you also have to relearn how to eat so that you won't get too full. Otherwise, you'll get bad hearburn or pressure from the food there.

I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia in 1993. I had to relearn how to eat and drink so as to not overstuff myself. I was taking Axid for a year, but I weaned myself off of it (that and no other antacids worked anyway).

Once you have relearned how to eat and drink properly, you'll eventually not need any medication either.

You might have to try another proton pump inhibitor. I've had great luck with Nexium!

Hope you feel better soon ;)
