No, the drives are not the same. Laptop drives are 2.5" and desktop drives are 3.5" (bigger). The interfaces are the same, so you could "technically" connect the drive, but it would likely not fit in the laptop case since it'd be far bigger than the typical laptop drive. There's really no need to even consider this. Laptop drives are getting to be around 250 to 300GB these days (for the upgrades) and you can always get an external Firewire or USB drive if you need more space beyond that.

Although the basics are the same, laptop/notebook hard drives are much smaller in physical dimensions than desktop hard drives.
In other words, a desktop hard drive will not physically fit into a laptop.
To add to the confusion, notebook/laptop hard drives come in a variety of sizes themselves, measured in millimeters for height, width and length...
Annoying, I know... if you want to do a drive swap - pull out the current drive and determine its properties (dimensions, and power consumption)... then find a drive that matches, preferably with larger capacity.
If you simply want to add drive space - buy an external USB or i1384 drive.
Peace,
-dh

I am not completely sure, but i am saying no, because a pc hard drive is much larger than a lap top drive. Most likely your pc hard drive will not fit into a lap top. HOWEVER, you can use a usb connectoing cord or wireless connector on your pc AND lap top and transfer data from your lap top to ypur pc and store information on your pc
