I feel as they are lost and missing out on the true meaning of Christmas. My prayers will be for them to find the gift of salvation and celebrate Jesus Birth. Merry Christmas to all as we celebrate the birthday of our Saviour. May Angels watch over all of you and those you love and may life be kind. God Bless All of you.

Christmas use to be a pagan holiday just change the holiday a bit and everyone who was Christian use to celebrate this day as a holiday. But a lot of people don't go to church now a days, so Christmas has reverted back to it's pagan form and that is worshipping the winter solstice the shortest day of the year. Also people are bond by tradition and since most of the big retailers are Christians they don't care the reason why people celebrate the holidays at all as long as they line their pockets with gold and I am talking about the owners of the Wal-mart department stores here in Canada and the US.

The question is, why should the "son of God" be remembered on the birth of the Sun God? The winter solstice celebrations predate Jesus of Nazareth. The 25th of December was the birth day of the Roman Sun God (the calendar was a few days different back then) and that is the shortest day of the year.

Christmas, or Yultide was comendeered by Christians in the middle ages.

So, oh holier than thou, before you throw your stones, perhaps you should check your history. ...and you can thump your Bible all you like, and you'll not find a THING about the date of the birth of Christ.

If you're really devout, then you should be celebrating the resurection of Christ three days after Passover (which would be the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox... which you probably know as Easter).

Your husband's incorrect in regards to the origins of Christmas. the trip originated as a Pagan social gathering, so even without the delivery of Jesus Christmas could exist (however decrease than a different call). i think of it can be quite merciless to tension your son to no longer have fun a trip that all and sundry else on your loved ones is celebrating. what's he meant to do mutually as you're all establishing gives you and having relaxing? Your husband's point of view is petty, IMO.

The origins of a form of winter pagan holiday celebration was originated and celebrated in Europe long before there was any knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Also, it is known that Jesus was not born in the winter, but the time of year chosen to celebrate his birth was winter, because this time of year is when people need the warmth of a celebration of lights.

Pope Julius I declared that Jesus's birthday would be celebrated on December 25th to make it easier for pagans to convert to Christianity - their celebrations and feasts would still be there in their new religion.

Everyone deserves to party and celebrate!

I feel that they are missing out on the biggest event that the world will ever see.....that God so loved the world he sent his Son to live with us, die for us, and the neatest part, is the resurrection from the dead. Without that there would be no celebrating Christmas, and there would be no Christian religion.
