For some reason, when I'm trying to check my e-mail or something like that my computer freezes up. I don't know why or what's causing it, but how do I make it stop?

I would highly recommend you scan your computer for virus's and spyware as this is usually the culprit behind freezing. If you don't want to pay for antivirus and antispyware software try this:

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition and AVG Anti-Spyware:

Make sure to download both tools and run a scan in each. Good luck, I hope this helps you

the most common reasons for a computer freeze ups is multiple
programs running in the background eating up valuable memory and processor speed. and when was the last time you defraged
the hard drive, removed unwanted/ not used files/cookies, did a virus/spyware/adware scan. do you leave the computer on all the time? you may need to do a soft re-boot if you do before you get back on line. hope some of this helps, and merry chistmas and happy new year.

I would start with running your anti-virus protection. Boot the computer into Safe Mode (F8 key) then run your anti-virus software.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
