that sometimes we loose the meaning of Christmas by being so busy rushing around everywhere? (I finally took a stand and said...I just want to relax and endure the day....damn it. : )

i agree. christmas is NOT about the gifts we receive but about the birth of Jesus. We get caught up with the gift thing and it truly takes away from the true meaning.. Everyone is just rushing around so busy that they are rude to others even though the true meaning is everything except selfishness. And to top that off people get offended if you say Merry Christmas..but most people would not shopping if it were not for Christmas.

Thank you and God bless.. and have a very Merry Christmas

I agree with you. Christmas has been commercialised for many years now. I remember a teacher at school taught me years ago that if you break up the word christmas, you get "CHRIST-MAS", add an extra s on the end and you get MASS. He elaborated further saying that Christmas is the gathering and celebration (as we all know) of the birth of Christ. A simply family gathering, sing happy birthday should be suffice....I think too many folks place way too much emphasis on the gifts.

I felt that way this year, but it was my own fault! I waited until about a week before Christmas to get my rearend in gear and get out and shop for everyone on my list! UGH! I finally got everything done yesterday evening and have it all wrapped and under the tree but LORDY! Whew! I have been a scrambled, busy woman! hehe....

Every Christmas I meditate, for me it's a time of meditation and reflection, that's the essence of the spiritual meaning behind Christmas. I don't know why other people rush.

Yeah, it's kind of weird for me, too. I mean I was watching my parents and other people rushing to get everything they need and have everything prepared for Christmas as if... they're expecting something. But what they really prepare for is the moment when they get to enooy Christmas. And they're so busy that they're acting as if... I mean, you don't need to prepare for pleasure.

I don't know what I mean. Eeh.
