Check the references of the project manager....make sure your carpenters are licensed and if they are contract make sure they have their own wc and liability insurance or you will have to pay for it when you are audited.....follow through with the building inspector and touch base with their office periodically.

You have no experience doing what? No experience doing home improvement? Why would you want to start a home improvement company - you'll get killed. No experience running a company? Oh, so you're a skilled carpenter but not the running a company type? Cool, there are so many skilled craftsmen out there that have no clue how to work with customers and just screw both themselves and their customers with their inexperience. If you've picked the right project manager the two of youy could be a very good team.

Find something in which you have experience and start a business. Risking your financial future on another person's ability and honesty is not a good idea. How will you know if you are being ripped off? How will you know when the customer's complaints are invalid and when your employees just plain screwed up? You would be better off to put your time and money into a partnership where your own experience is needed and valuable.

It'll be a big risk because that project manager will want to do everything his/ her way and will more than likely screw you over.

that will be a hugh risk. i would take classes of some sort before you do this so you know what your doing when you open your doors. and don't have to worry about someone else stepping on your toes. learn more about it before you decide to open business with little or no knowledge.
