NO! I don't allow it to be just another day. I celebrate what the true meaning of Christmas is every day. When things start to seem meaningless, stop what you are doing and look around. People with you that you love no matter what? or if by yourself, be thankful for all that you have. Christmas is not just a day off. Jesus was not only born, it was prophesied in the Bible that he would be born of a certain lineage and of a virgin. Grasp that one yet? An angel appeared to a girl who had never known a man, she was engaged, the angel said she would have a son and to call his name Jesus. What a blessed event! Her man never touched her until Jesus was born. Don't dis pare, he died, was buried, and ROSE AGAIN. He lives. Take time to thank God the Father for what he has given you. His only son, Jesus. Could you honestly give your child's life for everyone. So don't dwell on the commercial. Dwell on the gift. Have a blessed Christmas this year and your years to come.

Sometimes Christmas does seem meaningless. Most people crowd the malls and stores looking for gifts that do not mean much. They loose sight of the true meaning of Christmas. I think it's terrible with some children who expect so much material "stuff" and their parents give in without trying to teach them that the season is about being with your loved ones and appreciating what they have.

There are a number of people who display this same feeling every year. YOU are NOT at fault in this. I have a wonderful Christmas every year because I try my best to make it the best part of the year for as many children as I know! I always want to be a part of helping those who do not have money so that their children are not without during this season. I think that this would be a great project for someone like yourself also. It is so much fun to see their little faces lite up as they open their gifts. I also play SANTA for several different groups in different places. I do it for free because I really enjoy it! I hope that you feel better... I know that I do. Have a great HoLiDaY SeAsOn!!

It feels meaningless to me right now because I am not with my family this Christmas Eve; but, tomorrow I'm going to spend some time with a friend's family and it'll bring new meaning to Christmas. It won't feel the same since I'm not with my own family, but I'm sure I'll have a nice time at my friend's place and this Christmas will have its own special qualities.

Man is true to form. In the break down of family, family values and traditions in America is it any wonder that it is all to easy to forget that Jesus is the reason for this holiday.
This is a celebration of "the day", not the actual day, that God came to earth and lived and walked in the shoes of a man. God no longer watched from "above". God became man and experienced our joys, sorrows, our relational and task oriented challenges, our weaknesses, in essence and reality God experienced life just as each of us do.
How awesome is it that we have a God that doesn't just sit on a throne and tell us what to do. God not only came to earth and lived as we live, He lived in accordance to and followed what God says in the bible is best for us. This means that God doesn't just say, "do as I say" He says, "do as I did while I was among you".
When we remember what the real meaning for the holiday and the season is, our perspective has a tendency to change from a season of giving and supporting the commercial view to a season of appreciation that God is God and that He humbled Himself to live among us so that we might know Him. This is what Christmas is all about. How can we ever forget "what a big deal" Christmas is to all mankind?

In many ways, yes its just another day for me... it used to be different, but I've never really enjoyed the holiday.
Ive even volunteered to work on Christmas day...
It really only has any meaning when I'm with my niece and nephews... they're young enough to still really enjoy the whole Santa thing, and presents...

yes, Christmas has been meaningless for many years in my family. They treat it as though it's only for children, imposing tight limits on spending gifts for us adults, but thinking nothing of spending hundreds of dollars on toys for my only niece. My brothers make easily double the salary I make and buy their things at the finer stores like Macy's, Penney's, etc. yet when it comes to getting my gifts they go to Walmart or KMart. Christmas sucks.

Yes, i do cause as my kids get older it seems like just another day especially when you don't do the things you have done in the past to make that day exciting. But as long as i am with my kids i'm very happy.

the day is, the meaning isn't.
people do Christmas like a commercial, over and over without real meaning.
it starts Oct. and ends New Year's, but it isn't the real Christmas that's being celebrated throughout this time, is it?
