Peppermint oil...works great,, the smell and if you dab on both temples is amazing...I use it all the time...If you do not have peppermint oil available try a little Vic Vapo Rub, a spot on both temples and on the base of your neck at the top of the spine....it really works

I'm always getting migranes. I've come to the point where I dont like taking anything for the pain becuase I get a headach every day. Taking pain stuff every day is in no way good for my body. (I have been to doctors and such, had MRI's and all...Im' fine, I just get headachs...migranes, they run in the family)..

When I have one, the best way for me to get rid of them is to sleep it off. I lay down in a cool dark room and try to sleep. If I can not sleep, relaxing in the cool dark room for about a half hour/45.
Sometimes taking a calcium supplemnt helps also.

If you are at work, or in a place where laying down in the dark is not possible, there are other things you can do. Avoid going on a computer or writing/reading for a while. Try to do something that wont be too strenuous on your eyes (as that can make the headach worse). Perhaps use your headach time to organize your desk or do some filing.

A while ago, years ago actually, they did a study suggesting that people who did not drink enough water in the morning were more likley to get headachs in the afternoon. So be sure your drinking enough flu ids and eating a healthy diet. (which could help prevent the headach in the first place).

Good luck. I know how terrible headachs can be.

It really depends on the type of headache. I get terrible sinus headaches. Using "Fenu-Thyme" by Natures Way (Fenu stands for fenugreek) really clears my sinuses out, eliminating the headache. Things just start flowing. I also use peppermint and/or lavender as well for sinus headaches. I either add it to a hot bath (the steam also helps to get clogged sinuses rolling) or in my candle diffuser. The smell permeates the air in the room. Since peppermint is uplifting and lavender is calming, they balance each other well.

I've never had a migrane, but some company makes "migra-stick," which is lavender and peppermint as well.

I would really reccomend searching the internet based on the specific types of headaches you get. Thats what I did and I found it really helpful. Infact, that is what led me to fenu-thyme and many many essential oils that I now own.

Drink a big glass of pure water.
Seriously. A headache is the body's first sign of dehydration. Too many people drink soda and/or coffee nowadays. Caffeine robs the body of fluids because it acts as a diuretic.

Generally, headaches are caused by one of three things: muscle tension, dehydration, and caffeine withdrawal. Not to mention stress. :) So make sure you drink plenty of water, have a cup of coffee, and take a warm bath. Fatigue can also contribute, so try to get plenty of rest.

my husband use to get a migrane once a week so i can help with this. first gatoraide is awsome for it. one of the bigger bottles. get it drank at room temp and get it drank fast. then there is a cold or warm pad on your head covering your eyes. sleep is #1. going to a chiropracter can also help alot. if your getting headaches regularly your body might be out of alignment.

pinch the area of webbing between your thumb and index finger till it hurts, hold it for about 2 or 3 minutes. it will release a lot of endorphins (sp?) and works great. my coworkers think i am a witch doctor, but my chiropracter taught me this. it doesn't work on cold (the virus) related headaches though.

The meat between your thumb and pointing finger..grab it, squeeze it, make it hurt..sounds silly, but it is a pressure point that works. Hold pressure until you begin to feel the headache fade..Works for me.

Pour some vinegar on a face cloth and put it on your forehead. Lie down on a bed in a quiet room and that should do it.
