Many e-mail service providers have this option but not yahoo or hotmail. With some of them you can even "take back" an e-mail sent by mistake as long as the person hasn't opened it yet.

There is. In any email program you should have the option of sending a delivery receipt along with an email. However, it won't work 100% of the time because the person you send to has the option of sending that receipt to you or not. These days most programs will ask someone if they want to send a receipt if one's requested by the sender and because of the fear of viruses, most will answer no. It's just rare that they're used because they're so unreliable.

There is, but I believe AOL is the only ISP to offer this service, I think if you have your own local e-mail server you can do the same thing.
