It's not a foolproof contraceptive, but if you are exclusively breastfeeding at least every 3 hours, it should inhibit ovulation.

This is the reason why animals who live in harems (1 male, many females) kill the infants when a new male takes over the group. He cannot get the females pregnant while their young (from another male) are still nursing from her. Hence, kill the babies to make her ovulate again so HE can impregnate her....survival of the fittest.

Its not full proof, I have breastfeed two children and my first time my period came in at 2 months and this time 9 months into breastfeeding. My doctor gave me Effrin a noncombination birth control is best it wont reduce milk production, where the normal pill will

Just because you haven't gotten your period, doesn't mean you can't get pregnant. Breastfeeding is NOT a contraceptive

hi... I think breast feeding is partly contraceptive in early post pregnancy period, but not having a period does'nt mean that you are safe...Use some other contraceptive..

it helps but i wouldnt rely on it completely. my mother had children 11 months apart. use condoms with spermacide or other mechanical methods. talk to your doctor about it.
