Seriously, because a lot of people want to, or have wanted to kill themselves at Christmastime.
The film spreads a little ray of sunshine into otherwise bleak, desolate, dark, alienated, depressing, lonely existence.

Because it is a classic. Because, at this time of year, a lot of folks think of suicide, and this movie is a reminder that each life impacts the lives of those around them. Because it reminds self-centered folks that the only thing in this life that makes a difference in this world is the good that you do for others.
If you don't like it, don't watch it. I don't like the Simpsons, so I change the channel. These days, that doesn't even require a walk across the room.

yeah why would they broadcast a Christmas movie before Christmas? Why do they broadcast A Christmas Story, Charlie Brown Christmas, The Grinch, and Miricle on 34th Street every year? They are to get you the spirit and remakes of Christmas movies suck so new is out of the question.

it was made in 1946 (it's on now)..over 20 years before me..It's already been on at least 10 times this week. I can't stand that show.. How in the world people say it's the best movie there is just astounds me...You are not the only one that wishes someone would destroy EVERY single copy of that Dam n movie every made..If you paid me a thousand dollars I would not watch it. At least if they are going to play it, keep it on AMC (movie channel) not NBC..biggest network around..

Because every single year it's a wonderful life... and even if one year it wasn't a wonderful life, they would probably show the movie anyway to cheer us up. It's a no-win scenario.

Don't know, never cared for the thing either. It is one of those films that is popular but annoying, at least to me in my opinion.Don't know if C4 is gonna help some, but if it makes you feel better, go for it. LOL
