I have a HP Pavilion PC package which had 256MB RAM originally, I upgraded this to 512MB by adding another 256MB stick. Is it worth me replacing the 2x 256MB sticks with 2x 512MB or possibly 2x 1GB sticks??? Would it make my PC run faster or would I need to upgarde the processor aswell? It has an Intel Celeron 2.8Ghz processor.

Hi,
You did not say what u use ur pc for and which operating system ur running. Any ways, if ur running xp then i would recommed u a minimum 512 mb and the speed of ur processor is fair enough.

Secondly, if u go more than 1GB then u have to make sure that ur mother board supports that much RAm because different mother boards have different capacities.

Hope that helps.

If you're running WinXP, 512mb RAM should normally be enough. The decisive factor would be the programs you're running. If you do find you're doing a lot of waiting -- for instance, if you do something like a lot of video editing -- you'll certainly need more memory. But then, your pc probably isn't powerful enough for that kind of work.

In short, if you use your pc just for ordinary stuff like internet, word processing, viewing pictures, listening to music -- then 512mb should be enough. I doubt you'd see much difference if you added more.

No, you won't need to upgrade your processor in order to use more memory. But if your pc is already too slow for you, a new processor might help -- along with more memory.

definite, improve to a minimum of 2Gb, the recent time-honored. flow to the dell internet site and to be sure what sort you desire. could be everywhere from $20-40. this could heavily boost your computers overall performance. computers have become greater fee-effective, and you will get an excellent twin center processor for $500 and a minimum of 2Gb's of ram and an tremendously roomy 200Gb no longer easypersistent. in case you desire to make that bounce. you in all threat can no longer improve the pictures card in that laptop because PCI exhibit did no longer somewhat come on that many computers returned then, so in case you improve your total laptop and then improve the pictures card for a some distance greater appropriate laptop than the only you have precise now.

More RAM, faster CPU, clean your Hard drive of unused files, defrag the hard drive, run anti-spyware, anti-adware and anti-virus tools.

Do you check for, and remove, Spyware ?? Most Virus and Spyware scans are likely to work better in Windows Safe-Mode. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/default.mspx Spyware info.from Microsoft You can do Start, then RUN, then type msconfig Then uncheck items in the Startup tab. To find out what each Startup(or Process) item does or means, and any recommendation as to if you should close the process: http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm Task List Programs http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310419&Product=winxp Computer Speed and Performance May Decrease When you open, then close programs, programs may not free up RAM memory. That is called "Memory Leak". Restarting computer will clear out its RAM memory. OR, install more RAM memory. -

it depends on what u do really ... if u routinely open several apps at a time and convert video and game then it wil help some .. the reality is u wont notice much difference in speed unless ur bogging down to a crawl now when working ... u would notice a much larger felt speed gain by going to a faster harddrive like 5400rpm to 10000rpm or going to raid ...

what ever you do make sure if you choose the option of upgrading your processor that you are certain that your main board bios can handle it. go to hp's website and see if it can support a processor upgrade without a bios flash update. go there any way and see if there are any updates for your system.
you can also go to www.pcpitstop.com and run a free diagnostics of your computer for free (don't pay for the upgrade stuff), i have been using them for years also don't click on any of the sidebar ads, they are junk.

The old saying goes, "the more RAM the better", so yes upgrade! Especially if you use any multimedia software or plan to upgrade to Vista. I've tested Vista already and it needs (emphasis on "needs") at least 1 GB.

You have 786MB right? then 1GB won't make a big difference.
Make sure your motherboard can handle 2GB some dont.
Ram only allows you to run multiple programs at the same time.
to run faster buy a new CPU
