There's a million movies out there they can show (not to mention it's Christmas! and should be showing something Christmasy) and yet they show the same stuff any time they have a movie on (Usually it's a Julia Roberts movie or Spiderman). WHY???

I work in the industry.

Television networks negotiate with movie studios for movie purchases. Depending on the amount they pay, they in effect have the rights to air such a movie until a given date. In the case of a major blockbuster Hollywood picture, networks will try to show it as much as they can for ratings. Whereas a made-for-TV movie would be cheaper to purchase, but you get minimal ratings.

The short answer is the few people who watch during a holiday will watch them over and over.

The long answer is that they know nobody is really watching and it is cheaper to run a movie than sacrifce brand new episodes now, they want to save them for the sweeps when ad revenue is calculated by ratings.

Ya know!

It drives me up the wall when I see the same movie playing on like three or four different channels within the same week.
