I fell down on cement a few months ago but i didnt go to the doctors. now the bruise is gone and most of the pain (just cant kneel) ...but i can move a little bit of cartilage around in my knee. Is it ok if it stays there or will something bad happen if i dont get it removed?

any question about injury or illness should always be answered with the typical "see a doctor." No matter what symptoms are explained, actions taken, etc....no one could ever completely give you an answer.

If you can't kneel, or there is pain when you kneel, the fall has limited your range of motion. This could be just temporary from the pain, or chronic.

Your doctor would be able to pinpoint exactly what is going on.

My own personal experience: (which could be completely different from yours)

I have dislocated my knee twice, both times I imediately fell towards the injured side. Somehow I actually had a break of the patella, and have lose fragments of cartillage in my knee. Which in turn has affected my range of motion.

I'm not saying that this is what might have happened to you, but I had to have physical therapy after seeing a orthopedic dr.

Play it safe and have it checked out. Joint injury can be rough, especially if untreated.

From a bruse to a fracture.....it still is a good idea to get checked. Even if its just for peace of mind.

What you are moving is your patella otherwise known as your kneecap. You probably hit and bruised it pretty hard and are noticing it more because we all pay more attention to the parts of the body that hurt. Just to see, sit with both legs straight out in front of you and relax the legs. Put your hands on the kneecap and you should be able to move it side to side. Perfectly normal.

Go see a doctor and have your knee x-rayed. The sooner the better!

the only way to be more sure is to see an orthopedic doctor. you will probably have more problems with it as you get older.
