Just out of pure curiosity. In some British movies you hear them refer to so many pounds but I never know if it's a lot. So how much would a pound be in comparison to US $???

It's about $1.95 right now but on the Yahoo/finance page, they have a thing for currency exchange that's up to date!! Being that close, I just figure $2 for every British pound

Right now a good estimate is to double the pounds to get dollars.

1 British pound = 1.9631 U.S. dollars as of 12/24

When you watch old movies this type of conversion is meaningless due the the wide fluctuations. They were almost equal at times.

The easiest way is to double teh pounds to convert to dollars - 100 pounds sterling is about 200 US dollars. do a google on 'forex' to get more correct figures.

You can check it writing currency converter in google and looking it up.

1.00 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 1.95792 USD

1.00 dollars = .51 british pounds
1.00 britsh pound = 1.96 dollars
