I imagine that my dell laptop, when plugged into a stereo from the headphone jack, is responsible for the duty of amplifing the sound in the stereo. IS the a solution or something I can purchase to upgrade my dell so I can connect it to a external sound system and play my music with more volume capabilities. My dance party last night forfitted my great sellection of music on my computer for tedious CD djing.

Turn the volume all the way up on your laptop. Whatever the volume that comes out your stereo is about what you are going to get! If this is not Satisfactory Burn the music to CD!

The headset jack puts out way more than enough audio for the stereo. Just turn the volume up the same way you would if you were listening to headphones until the stereo is the same volume as if you were playing a CD. If it's still weak there's something wrong with your cabling.

You need to connect the output of the headphone jack to a preamplifier. This may require you to split the 3.5mm stereo connection coming out of the laptop.

The cable should have a 3.5mm male stereo connector on one end (laptop end) and split into two RCA audio cables that would connect into a preamp input on your stereo, such as where your CD player plugs into.

I used to do this all the time.
