I am one of the older people on answers and want to know if any one has found a partner and been happy with them despite not being madly, passionately in love as you are when young. Am I wasting my time waiting for the impossible? I want the passion of the young despite my advancing years.

1. Being "madly, passionately in love" is not an emotion solely of the young. It is most certainly possible for you.

2. You can be happy with a partner, at any age, provided you have a lot in common, i.e. you broadly share the same values, outlook and interests.

3. As an "older person" you are probably more able to determine who is the right partner for you. It is only now that you see what difficulties there are in finding your soulmate. Here's an earlier answer of mine, which expands on the problems of finding an appropriate partner.

4. Love is possible at any age, but it is also fraught with problems at all ages. There's always a huge element of luck involved, but you should never despair.

I've known older people to have short, passionate relationships, but I have yet to meet anyone, of any age, who has had a long-lasting passionate relationship.
