Am I the only person that refuses to listen to any rock bands that start with "The"?

The Tragically Hip, The Flaming Lips, The Pixies, The Dears, The Decemberists, The Verve, The Vines, The Strokes, The Smiths, The Stills, The Shins, The Kinks, The Killers, The Hold Steady, The Mars Volta, The Arcade Fire, The New Pornographers, The Raconteurs, etc.

I have never listened to any of those bands and never will.

The Beatles are overrated and I bet most of the abovementioned bands are as well.

Some good ones are The Killers, The Ramones, The Cure, The Smiths, The Used, The Matches, The Early November, The Academy Is..., The All-American Rejects, The Postal Service, and The Kinks.

NO, and i like some of the beatles stuff. It really depends on the band, though i agree that "the" is over used but regardless of the name if the band plays good music it shouldn't matter look at "The who"

People won't like this but I find most rock "music" to be more of a cacophony than a concert. And that applies to bands whose names don't start with "The"

Now I must brace myself for the deluge of hate mail. Not really

But the band comment really is my feeling. I prefer much more sedate entertainment.

If you choose your music by the name of the band, not the quality of the music, then your the one who sucks... and The Beatles are not overrated, just under appreciated, if that's a word, and THE doors are one of the greatest bands ever! My point: Listen to what sounds good, not what looks good. oh, 'Panic at the Disco!' doesn't start with the, but they suck just the same!lol

you are simply shallow minded. how can you say the bands are over-rated if you have refused to listen to them. putting "the" in the title has no bearing on the music played. it sounds like you are a very controlling person who has, in this instance, 'forbid' yourself from listening to these bands for an unreasonable reason purely as a measure of your willpower. get over it and you may find you will become a friendlier person overall...

I hate when ppl try so hare not to be mainstream. All they end up doing is looking like all those other anti mainstream peple and end up looking mainstream. Who cares about the band name. The music is what matters.
