I love Life On Mars from the BBC, My question is what are the character's regional accents? Can somebody with an ear for this sort it out for me?

Thanks.

Well the show is definitley set in the North Of England. Manchester I think.
John Simm who plays Sam Tyler was born in Yorkshire as was Liz White who plays Annie so they may just be using thier real accents. However Philip Glenister who plays Gene is from London so he is probably putting on a Northern accent. Alot of the Northern Cities accents are very similar and to the untrained ear you might not tell the difference say between a mancunian (manchester) accent and Cheshire accent. But what a great show - I cant wait for season 2!

Ashes to Ashes and in the 1st episode it replaced into implied that Sam died in real existence whilst he jumped off the roof of that development on the eng of the final episode in existence on Mars.
