If you are a non-Christian, especially those of the "anti-supreme being" variety (atheists and agnostics), then do you still celebrate Christmas? If so, why?

This question isn't an attempt to start arguments or cast aspersions. I'm actually serious in wondering why one would celebrate the birth of a savior they did not believe in.

Remember Dec 25th is original a Pagan midwinter fest that has been high jacked by xian. Hence you got it the wrong way around. But you welcome and can call it what ever makes you feel good.

I think for some people - and there is certainly a movement to make it even more so - Christmas is more a social holiday than a religious one. It had - they will tell you - religious origins, but today, all sorts of non-Christians celebrate the spirit of giving, the sense of well-being. Jews put up Christmas trees, Buddhists buy presents, atheists go to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Spectacular and agnostics teach their children to believe in Santa.

It strikes Christians as strange, that the celebration of Christ's Mass - Christmas - should be so convoluted, but it is certainly going on, and that interpretation is being encouraged by merchants but also by others who want to diminish Christianity any way they can.

And those who just don't want to be left out.

No, Christians do no longer thoughts in any respect. "Christmas" is largely a re-named version of the pagan present-giving pageant of Saturnalia that became occurring long till now Christianity began .. with a week of eating & partying maximum appropriate to the recent 12 months especially lots as primary. Jesus Christ became no longer even born on December 25.

I like to celebrate Christmas because I love the idea of peace and love it is supposed to bring. My personal belief is that you don't have to believe, or be a Christian. You just have to believe in the goodwill towards your fellow man. That is a wonderful reason for celebrating this special holiday.
