Instead of "Happy Holidays?"

BTW - it does not offend me, but I saw someone get very upset at a cashier the other day for saying, "Merry Christmas" to him. It was very embarrassing

No, because it is in fact Christmas. If it is New Years Day, the cashier should wish you a Happy New year. The person that was offended was probably Christmas Shopping and just being a jacka**.

"Merry Christmas" to many is simply a way of wishing you well during the holidays. Only people looking to be offended are going to consider it as an affront.

Not me! I say Merry Christmas to them when they say Happy Holidays to me.

Infact if someone says Happy Holidays to me I usually have to ask which one they are talking about, New Year, 4th of July, Labor Day or what, because he can't be talking about CHRISTMAS.

of course not! ... it will make me feel a lot better knowing that the holiday spirit is up.

Maybe the guy's not a christian that's why he gets upset about it but one just never get a big fuss about it. people are just happy.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

If you're offended by that, then you probably need to seek counseling for depression or anger issues.
