the rule of law is the idea that any given state or ruling body can produce laws and restrictions on society. advantages of this are the fact that criminals have very little chance of getting away with crimes that they commit. also any breach of the law causes one of the following - A) a prison sentence or B) a community order (which varies). disadvantages are that people of the state are binded by these laws and have no authority over them

The rule of law basically means there is a set of rules by which most people live. It is vital for any society and without it that society would collapse. Disadvantages not many except maybe that choice is more limited but that choice is considered to be harmful to society anyway
