sex is for reproduction.
Love may be for the social aspect of survival. Human need to stay as a group to survive back in the old days. So an emotional bond is needed.

Hi,
Well.....Sex is a way for our species to reproduce. Hence, when you want to have a baby, you have sex.....I would hope you know that.

However, love is a different theory; and there are many explainations. Religion often explains love in different forms - love for physical objects, love for people, love for friends, love for family. However, there are other such theories too: Could it be love is merely a psychological action to create a context for a relationship; to protect ourselves; to make us feel comfortable before mating. Or is love a factor of our Biology; our hormones driving us to make a physical connection - or both?

Or is love really true? A pure physical connection with someone that only exsists between the two people.

The answer? We don't know.....and we probably never will!

1. it has been proven that we are physically attracted to healthy good looking people. it has also been said that these healthy good looking people have characteristics (physically) that would enable them to survive more easily in a crude environment. 2. the female orgasm is designed in such a way that if there is male ejaculation, the cervix will actually dip into it and slurp it up (disgusting I know, but true!) this would lead one to believe that sex is meant purely for procreating. Furthermore, in the past is has been impossible to procreate without sex, therefore, one can reasonably come to the conclusion that sex was designed as a physically and emotionally stimulating and pleasureable experience in order to motivate people to procreate. The development of birth control methods have enabled the human race to use sex as recreational, rather than procreational, however I believe sex was originally solely intended for procreation. This also holds true for most of the animal kingdom, with the exception of a certain group of primates (don't remember where). this other group of primates also uses sex for procreation, and they even engage in group sex activities.

Love and pleasure are only ways to ensure that we do the deed. If it was not for it, why would anyone reproduce?
If it was not fun, or desirable from a sentimental/romantic point of view, and that some species would not do it, then those species would disappear.
Therefore, the only species that exist are those that are either driven to do it from instinct pressure, or from more selfish/interested/rewarding reasons.

I think that love is something beyond just procreation. I believe that it is a way to connect with another that supersedes the superficial. Sex is not only a method for procreation (or we wouldn't want to do it when we are not in the time of the month where we aren't fertile). It is an exchange of energy that makes us understand that there is something beyond the day to day business of life.

You are confusing two levels of causation; the ultimate and the proximate. While the ultimate cause of sex/love is to insure replication of the genes, we do not want to confuse our motives with the motives of our genes. So, proximately, your boy friend/husband probably loves you very much, in the here and now.

Yes, I think we've got to make do with that for our spicies to reproduce...'til other forms of reproduction are discovered/invented/legalized.

Love does exist. I believe it is an strong emotional, and possibly spiritual, bond between two sentient beings.
Sex is a tool to drive reproduction.
