My Mazda MPV 3.0 with about 80 thousand miles won't shift higher than 2nd gear.
With the transmission in "Drive" its shifts up to 2nd. When I accelerate further the engine rpms go up the RED zone but the transmission seems to disengage. I understand that automatic transmissions can experience a "slipping" problem, but I don't have the experience or knowledge to properly diagnosis this problem.
I have done transmission flush and cleaned up the pan and filter, found 2 pointed (tiny) pieces of metal that seems to have broken off from the transmission.

Does anybody know where I can a possible solution to this problem?

Thanks!

possibly a transmission range switch problem, or adjustment of the cable. or it could be internal problems, either way take it to a transmission place or a mazda dealer.

you can ask a mechanical or a mechanical engineer it will be better .check the nuts of the gear it self ,or if there is a knocking that you hear a sound when you starts the car and it consumes fuel very much and having a speed problem it could be the spark ignition have a problem in.

try starting off in 1st then shift up manually to 2nd 3rd 4th. if it goes into these gears manually then you have an electrical or valve body problem.you will need a professional no matter what. p.s check all fuses.
