Perhaps the question should be to you; Why SHOULD anyone be out more (or less) than any other night? For some people, December 25th is, uh... The day between the 24th and the 26th, and holds no other significance. Even Christian scholars will agree that it's not actually the birthday of Jesus. In fact, they'll even agree that "Jesus" was not his name. So... There's a whole lot of hubbub around a day that ain't even the day it's s'posed to be! Dontcha think?

So... I'm not sad about it. Or unusually upbeat about it. It's just a day, except the traffic on the roads and in the stores is much worse. (And, yes... I know your question is talkiing about tonight, which is the 24th, but its common significance is as the eve of the 25th.)

Life is good, holiday or no.

I'm not sad. I've been sorting through old photos of my family, many of whom are now dead or thousands of miles away. I still feel a strong connection with them and this exercise strengthened that. I put up a row of 8X10 photos of my father, who died just before Christmas nine years ago, so that I could review his life. It made me happy to see his young face again.
I'm here because I have the time and want to reach out and connect with others. The important person in my life is, I hope, sharing this day with his family. We'll be together tomorrow.
The only sad thing was remembering that this is my wedding anniversary, but the marriage ended almost thirty years ago and I don't have a single wedding picture. I'm not sure there ever were any.
Sorry about the ramblings.
I hope you are not feeling sad.

it is not sad to be at home on christmas eve. Not to mention that some do not celebrate Christmas!! lol. Merry Christmas, and Happy new Year. Just FYI, though, I am home because my kids and I are getting over the flu. Not sad, just necessary, don't want to spread it around.

Nah, I used to go out on Christmas Eve when I was younger and then I'd feel like crap the next morning.

I'd sooner stay in these days with a cup of tea and a mince pie, must be getting old.

I am sad about this Christmas, sad for the boys and girls Military that are in Iraq or Afghanistan or any other theatre instead of being at home with their loved ones.

I am sad to think that this might be someones last Christmas because they are fighting illegal wars.

For everyone that is here I wish you a very Merry Christmas.

The adult kids are at the ex's house for Christmas right now. I wasn't invited--LOL

I am on the computer inbetween batches of cookies baking in the oven. And letting the eggs cool to make deviled eggs for tomorrow's dinner.

Alas, I should be throwing in loads of laundry instead of on this computer, buy hey, it is Christmas Eve.

We're answering questions precisely because it is Christmas Eve. We probably want to help someone out there with their problem(s), making their day.

I like the people here - and my niece and nephews are with other family members today.

Since I'm single - I take comfort that others are here as well, and I enjoy this environment. There seem to be so many caring people (as well as some not so caring...).

We rock!

And I never really liked Christmas, even as a child...

Yes we're a sad bunch. We answer questions because people like you ask them. Yes we should be out, I will be later, but 'till then I'll be here answering questions.
