I was afraid of sleeping beauty, I would never go near the sewing machine and when we drove by a forest I would just close my eyes, because of the thorns in the forest.

Nup. I luved fairy-tales as a kid, and I still hev alll these mounds of fairy tale books stored away in my closet. However, when I was like 10, I read this different version of Cinderella. Cinderella's mother was still looking after her even after she was dead, through birds (Cinderella could talk to birds and stuff). One day, the ball came, blah blah and the prince fell in love and then she came home. The prince came with the glass shoe, and the first sister tried to put it on. But it wouldn't fit, and then she got an idea that she could cut off her toes so that it would fit. But then it still didn't work and then the second sister tried, but she culdnt wear it, so she cut off her heel, and then Cinderella tried, and it fit. The sisters were angry, so they were going to ruin her wedding, except the birds attacked them (along with the step mother) and picked their eyes out and killed them. The pictures were gory, and I was horrified at whoever had written that story. From then on, I never went near Cinderella.

I'm more of the Hans Christian Anderson type but my scarietst story was BILLY GOAT GRUFF with the ogre who lived under the bridge and ate folks... had some pretty awful nightmares from that puppy... and then was the Legend of Sleeping Hollow with the Headless Horseman and dude that disappeared... I decided not to torture my kids with that stuff while they were young but I hipped them to it all when they were older just for historic and literary comprehension and "appreciation".

There was a little door in our room, a little door where the people that lived in our house before still lived. When I would dream about what lived in there I would become frightened.

Nope. Too pragmatic, even as a child.
