Is Santa American? Well hes lives at the North Pole so that's makes him a resident of Canada! But when i checked the telephone book and checked with Revenue Canada they had no record of him, which is good, could you imagine the taxes he would have to pay! And sense he travels around the world with no pass port or boarder crossings i guess that would make him a no nationality guy with a pass port of love to all the boys and girls of the world.

Santa was made up by a German-American cartoonist named Thomas Nast around the late 1860's. That's why I don't understand what Santa has ANYTHING to do with Christianity... probably just because the cartoonist was a Christian? But then again, they claim that some Saint named Nicholas is Santa Clause.... Who knows?

YES ... St Nick was European, but Santa was the name given to him in America.

There is a story by Arthur N. Hosking in the Liberty Magazine, December, 30th, 1933 that dated Santa's American citizenship back to the early 1800's thanks to Clements Moores' poem from 1822, "The Night Before Christmas"

Santa has multiple nationalites because Americans aren't the only ones who believe in Kristopher Kringle.

Actually Santa is Saint Nicholas from Holland. The children would leave their shoes on the porch and he would put sweets in them.
