Fair comment.
Obviously your Christian friend doesnt have an answer.
When this happens many Christians who are blindly attached to the written word, and do not have the capacity for discernment,
will pour fiery scorn down upon the question and think that by doing so God has given them some supernormal righteous anger to respond.

Wow! How about you learn something about critical thinking before you just blurt out what's on your mind? There were terrible floods in the Midwest and people died...So according to you, God caused the floods....what did the people in the Midwest do? And your figures about how many fires are burning is grossly exaggerated. There have been nowhere near 47,000 different fires and the fire season sure has begun. It begins when the rainy season is over -- usually end of May. You don't live in California, do you? Why talk about something you obviously know nothing about?

Religion is a touchy subject for alot of people. When you comment about someone's beliefs be prepared for them to take it personally. There is more to "IT" than a conflict between God and the Devil, that is only a small portion of the bigger picture. There is an old saying, "Friends should never discuss reliqions and politics, as they may quickly become enemies" or something like that.

Because it sounds like until you actually see one of those fiery little red devils and the eyes of our grand creator you are going to live a normal everyday life. Which is what most of us rational people do. Some people go way off the deep end when it comes to religion and even politics. I kind like the idea that I can't see God or the Devil.

Your friend got mad because he probably thought you were being sacriligious.
God and Satan are always warring, and have been since Satan's departure from Heaven.
And, just for your benefit, God will win. He created Satan, so it's safe enough to say that he can also eliminate Satan. But, as for your own soul, He gave you the choice to decide which side to fight on. I, personally, have chosen a side I'm pretty confident in.

I think that, like some religious folks, she is afraid of the subject of damnation and the devil. Your statement that the devil might have a chance to win scared her. Some people are too afraid of the possibility to even discuss it, and forget them ever questioning it, because to question would be automatic damnation for them.

God and the Devil are in a winner take all battle, for souls, our souls. The Bible clearly tells us that. Our existence will cease if the Devil wins.

Religious people feel that WE have to be involved in the battle. If humans are not involved in the battle, the religious people see no purpose in existence for themselves, and are extremely upset by this. (Your idea actually strikes me as a very good one.)
