She decided to leave based on a contract dispute.
Jones' portrayal of Toni Childs, in Girlfriends, marks her first series regular role; in May of 2006 it was confirmed that Jones has left Girlfriends, presumably over a contract dispute.

I've heard that she was unhappy with her contract, I think she wanted more money. But all I now for certain is that Girlfriends can't survive without Tony, she made the show. Her, Joan and William are still my favorite characters. Maya and Lynn are cool but too predictable.

I heared that she left! another rumour said that she was adjusting into motherhood!
Girlfriends is not the same without Toni, you know!

she called it a day and left; supposedly due to contractual disputes. she's missed if you ask me;

she moved to new york on the show, but was angry about her cotract about the show.
