AT LEAST THEY GOT YOU A GIFT. IT'S THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS NOT THE GIFT REALLY. JUST SAY THANK YOU,

Personally I would value a well chosen gift bought with thought and costing very little - than someone with vast wealth just "getting a minion to "go buy something expensive for a gift from me".

In fact, I can think of several examples over the years where a friend has given me an uinexpensive little present that has made me much happier than an expensive "showy gift" from someone who didn't ACTUALLY take any time to think of what I might *like".

I guess it depends on how you see gifts. I suspect it varies a little geographically too. In the UK, thought and reason might be rated highly - and in the US, perhaps a little more emphasis might be spent on "how much".

Neither is wrong, just different value sets for different Countries I think.

I would be absolutely disgusted!! I really would.

Why on earth would he buy me something worth only £1 even if I get 5 of the same thing for the price!

Alot of things in poundland are cheap, easily broken and dont last long at all. He would really be saying something about our relationship if he went there for my present..

No.. I would not be pleased.

I'd feel that she was desperate for money this holiday season, and I'd offer to help them out financially.

If that turned out not to be the case, I'd feel she was an insensitive jerk. And correct her.
