My niece Samantha says:
I do take ballet, and it does take up time. I have to drop an activity that I enjoy doing to take lessons. If your friends are bugging you about dance, this advice might help: make as much time as possible for non-dance activities or try to persuade your stubborn friends to take lessons. If that doesn't work, you can get lessons and make some new friends that can truly appreciate you, no matter where you go or what you do. But still, if your old friends can give you the kind of respect you need, keep them on your right hand. My friends pester me about lessons, especially since I take dance 2 nights a week and all of my other nights are taken up. Take all of this as a personal experience from a busy 10 year old.

I took ballet, along with various other types of dance, for over 15 years. With over 4 classes a week and teaching 2 to 4 per week that didn't leave much time for others. I tried to keep my weekends free at least one of the days. But you do what you love and your friends, if they are truly your friends will be patient and understanding. God Bless.

I take ballet all year round. I take tap during the summer, and I do lyrical by myself. I don't have the same problem you do, as most of my friends are dancers too. Invite your friends to take classes with you, or have them meet you after classes. That way they'll still feel special, and maybe you'll have some dance buddies!

well i take ballet and jazz and 2 other competition classes
sometimes when my friend ask me to go to their house or do something together i usually dont have time but they understand
especially the point that i have 3 hrs of dance on FRIDAY im kinda sad about it too
just take out 1 or 2 classes and make it friend time =) or tell them to join u in dance
if they are good friends they will understand

Ive taken ballet for the past 7 years, and you've got a point, dance can take allot of your time, but Chum is right, even if you love to dance, it cant replace friends

I used to take ballet and now I take popular dances(I am from Bulgaria and these dances are also called horo)
it's fun,really!
I've solved the problem with the lack of time and the friends- I take the dances with them!

its hard to balance sometimes...maybe miss a class once if you really feel like you don't ever get to see your friends...make efforts to do something before/after class and maybe miss one class every few weeks if you have to...don't skip the same class though and try to limit it to skipping very few
i do dance 7+ hours a week but i don't have this problem becuas ei don't dance on the weekends so i just hang out with my friends then and whenever we are off from school the next day i often do stuff with them after dance
don't let your friends dictate what you can/can't do it may be hard for them to understand but if they are true friends tehy will try and make it work around your dance schedule

No, but I took disco dance classes.
How is that for being old?
Believe it or not C&W dancers still do disco steps, just a different kind of music!
You don't have a problem, I think your friends might be envious because you have a life that doesn't always include them.
Keep on dancing! It's your life.

I dance very seriously and yet I don't exactly have this problem because the friends I have are understandable and do things with their lives as well. In less if this issue turns out to be a very big conflict, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes i took dance for awhile and it may take up a lot of time if your friends are complaining that you have no time for them, they should just get over it!!...because you are the one who likes to do it and they shouldn't make you choose between something you love to do and them!!...Its just not right for friends to do that they are supposed to be supporting you!!!...
