I wish someone could legally do something about it. I get annoyed having to continually turn them down and by the end of the night i feel like throwing my remote through the tv screen.

I seem to remember this challenge being lodged years ago and the defence was that viewers are really engrossed in the programme and then all of a sudden WHAMO - it's an advert, i.e. the sudden contrast in subject matter only makes it SEEM like the ad is louder. Speaking personally, I say bull----. There are some ads that are definitely louder. The simple test is walk out of the room when the programme is on until you can't hear your programme and wait until you hear an ad. If you don't hear an ad, walk back into the room after an appropriate amount of time and see if there's an ad on. If there is, you didn't hear it like you didn't hear your programme and so the volume wasn't raised.

What possible grounds would you have for a lawsuit? If you don't like it, mute the sound during commercials, or get a volume equalizer - these are devices that reduce the volume during the adverts.
Why does everyone think the law is the solution to every problem? It should be the last resort, not the first.

When the tv is turned up, so I can hear it with my bad ears. The loudmouth BIlly Mouth comes on and scares the heck out of everyone. I change the channel as fast as I can. That way I don't support the ones that pay him and his mouth.

We all hate that! One minute you can't hear the programme you're watching the next minute the TV is screaming at you selling nappies and cheese. My remote is knackered!

it quite is a superb theory!!!I propose we've that total homicide and mindless violence taken care of. i'm hoping we are in a position to get this occasion in distinctive federal courtroom properties. this could be basically the suited waste of time! i stumbled in this magic wand sort ingredient, my spouse calls it a distant, and there's a button there that makes it the television quiet and now and lower back if I cant hear it I press the button next to it and gets louder!!! I wish you good fortune, i'm hoping they nail those advert bastards!

How would you "legally challenge" that?? What law are they breaking? Annoying, yes. Illegal, probably not.
