I do agree with you at all that this wasn't taken seriously http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biafra_War It what way do you think the West should have reacted to what is going on in Nigeria? This was an internal conflict within Nigeria. If anything Europeans who became involved in the conflict on acted to aid the Biafra government which continued the war longer and led to more unnecessary bloodshed.
Good Luck!!!

Politicians or countries have nothing to gain. i.e. Biafra has no oil.
also, perhaps it was because Biafra was only a country for 3 years between 1967 and 1970 and many countries never recognized it as a country.

Poor black folks in a remote African country are way down the list of the western media or governments and only obscure historians will record this in books that war never read.

You're seriously wondering why, in the midst of the Cold War, with the US in the peak of the Vietnam war, a civil war in an area that threatened almost nobody's national interests didn't draw more attention?

i think they "pick and choose" their battles based on notoriety and the attention it will bring them, and oil, oil, oil. most of them live in their own little bubbles and have their own agendas. very sad.
