I have a lot of dark reds, but they always show up lighter than the colour in the bottle. Can anyone recommend some nice, elegant, dark colours? Anything blackish red, or black cherry is what I'm looking for.

I think a dark chocolate brown is really cute and definitly in fashion right now if you're not into black. There are also some deep reds with brown hint. Sally Hansen or O.P.I have a great selections.

im not a big fan of dark colours i think the clean look is better i just paint the tips of my nails white and put a gloss over the top

make sure you put enough coats to get the dark red, i sometimes have to put 3+ coats to get the right color, but anyways, ummm, plum is nice or black w/plum on top, same w/red w/black on top

Merlot is a very nice dark brownish red color.

some of the best colors are from OPI nail line. They have some great deep colors.

Right now I love black (when it's done on acrylic nails)...deep red is awsome right now too though.
