how do i download direct X 9.0 on my hp pavilion mx50?

Assuming that's the most recent version - go to

support.microsoft.com

Type DirectX 9 in the search box and hit enter...

It should bring up the support page and links for installing 9 - note that 9 is kind of nasty, it can't be uninstalled... at least not when it first came out.
