On December 18, 2000, she and her sons went diving in Cozumel, in a specific diving area that watercraft were restricted from entering. With the group was a local veteran divemaster, Ivan Diaz. As the group was surfacing from a dive, a speeding powerboat entered the restricted area. MacColl saw the boat coming for her sons. Louis was not in the boat's path, but Jamie was. She was able to push him out of the way (he sustained minor head and rib injuries) but in doing so, she was hit by the boat and killed instantly

The boat involved in the accident was owned by Mexican supermarket millionaire Guillermo González Nova, who was on board with several members of his family. An employee of González Nova's, boathand José Cen Yam, claimed to have been driving the boat at the time that the accident occurred.

yes unfortunately on December 18, 2000, she was in a speed boat accident

She was taking her sons scuba diving and while in a specified diving area, a speedboat appeared and was heading towards her sons. She managed to push one of them out of the way but by doing htis she put herself in the path of the boat, which hit her and killed her instantly.

The boat was owned by a rich mexican, Guillermo Gonzalez, and there was much controversy over who was driving the boat. Eventually his boathand, Jose Cen Yam was charged with culpable homicide, as the boat was going much faster than the speed limit, and sentanced to 2 years and 10 months, but managed to get off with paying a fine. However people beleive that Cen Yam was paid to 'take the fall'.

Yes, sadly she is, and much missed, she was a truly unique person. She died far too young and when she was doing some really good work....sigh.....
