I have never heard of such a thing. I have heard of many people burning down their house with a turkey fryer. Be sure that you know what the flash point of oil is before you start. And do this a safe distance from your house. People down the street from the in-laws burned down their house with one of those.

go to a propane dealer and tell them what you want. if you are savvy you can rig up the controller from a deep fryer (fast food restaurant) they will be around $150.

You've got to put the turkey thermo in between the legs of the turkey. Ya know that's where you'll find it again.
