I found a very good deal on some ram which is compatible (PC3200) but its got 667mhz (whereas my own computer's is 400) and 240 pins whereas mine is 184 ... can i use it or not?

no .you just can Install DDR ram 240pin Rams are DDR2. and your mother board just can Sopport 400MH rams.if you want to Instal DDR2 rams you must Change your Mother board.
