It would depend on what he is interested in. Some boys like to build models or collect things of interest to them
some possible collections would be stamps, coins, Hot Wheels cars, anything of interest to the particular person.
Hobbies can also include activities like model airplane flying, kites, BMX racing, go-karts, swimming, diving, skiing, etc
The right thing will come along eventually

He is 10 years of age but, too, is not far from puberty. Bear that in mind...
Now, it is this; what does he naturally lean toward in terms of his interests? Following this, you and he can get a feel for what he has interests for pursuing.
A good start generally, is to go to Nature. Interests and hobbies centered on Nature will always be of intrigue and prove to be beneficial as well, both in terms of self-fulfillment and commerce.

if he is creative, how about designing T-shirts. there are some cool things to use out there. he could make them as gifts for the holidays or birthdays.
collecting things is always a nice choice just realize how much the price will affect your decision. some choices could include...
stamps
books
bobble heads
post cards
sports items like hats, cards, pennants
something that is educational and can be built like models
flea markets are good places to go for ideas and items.

Depends on what he likes. If he likes to manipulate things, some construction toys might be good. If he likes art, paint or draw by number. If he likes a variety of things, have him make a scrap book of his favorite things using pictures, drawings, and journal entries. If he likes nature, rock collecting might be fun. If he likes sport, trading cards.
