Open minded enough to know a lie when I hear one and smart enough to believe the ones that I should.

Being open minded and being stupid are two different things.
Believing any lie is being stupid.
Being open minded is not following the average persons opinion but researching and finding out about your own. Which normally doesn't result in believing any lie.

I'm open-minded, but "enough to believe any lie" is not so much "open-minded" as gullible. Open-minded means you're open to hear and see, but then you have to think and become convinced before actually believing...

I am open minded in conscious hours. If , I am presented with a lie disguised ---as the truth ----it would depend on the motive behind the lie--- if I had to access my gullibility.
In my dream state...I am closed minded !

I am open minded but my beliefs would have to be logical as compared to some lies that are too far fetched.
