Both - Merry Christmas to Christians, and Happy Holidays to everyone who celebrates some holiday around the same time.

I am Christian so I usually say Merry Christmas but I believe some people might get offended if they're jewish or kwanzinian so happy holidays is best. It is a way to spead joy and celebrate all holidays and religions w/ out naming every one.

Merry Christmas if that is what you celebrate.
happy holiday if you do not know what you celebrete,
Yuletide blessings if ye be Pagan
Good hanukkah if ye are Jweish.
Belated Rammidan to the Muslim folk
happy Keanza to our African brothers and sisters.
Do you all get my point?
