But if you are 102% comfortable with the functionality of the current version, you might just stay with the old to prevent any issues right now.

yes if u update u will lose all the data stored in the i tunes ,

nope u wont unless u hav a crappy computer....lol.it saves it all on its own . i just updated mine 2 days ago and my songs r still there
