Yep, North Korea is only safe because it has Nuclear weapons, Iraq didn't and wasn't.
The lesson being, if you don't want the USA to invade your country get some Nukes quickly.

No I do not! What an awful thought! Have you ever considered that if a Third World country didn't have any oil then they have ten times the defensive power of anyone with nuclear weapons?

Yanks? Eyes bigger than their bellies! They need the threat of a nuclear slap to leave anyone alone! As soon as they learn engineering and can start to build boats properly even us English could be in for some trouble!

If instead of "have nuclear bombs" you put "a reliable nuclear deterrent" (ie a well-tested delivery system), then the anwer is yes. It seems though that being in the basic or intermediate stages of nuclear weapons research is about the most invasion-*provoking* thing you can do!

It depends on the location and type of warfare you are talking about. If North Korea attacked Japan it would be suicide because minutes after they would be subdued by American forces and missiles. If we move over towards India and Pakistan the US has friendly and good relations with both countries. It would depend on the aggressive nature of the country that just purchased nuclear weapons. The current administration doesn't need another Iraq or Afghanistan.

So long as Third World countries do NOT have the bomb, then they will have nothing to fear. It's when they even talk about getting it that the s*** will hit the fan.

If they really want to deter an invasion, they should promote the concept of a world federal system of government capable of ensuring the rights of all nations.

a more effective way is to let people speak there own minds and come to their own solutions through diplomacy and the exchange of ideas, instead of controlling the economic and information flow as most dictators do..its called freedom and it generally comes with a struggle especially in third world countries...americans dwell in it and have loved it for well over two hundred years despite the best efforts of liberals to stifle it at home and abroad.

No. The US has the power to obliterate any country regardless of their having nuclear bombs. A nuclear bomb is useless anyway if you don't have an accurate missile system.

No.

If they plan to harbor terrorists against us, their having nuclear bombs is more likely to make them a target of our offensives than if they don't have nuclear bombs.

If they don't plan to harbor terrorists against us, what reason do they have to think we would invade?
