I want reasons, not rhetoric or scripture, or the pat answer "(my) god said so."

I think it is prudent to judge carefully, and it is also unavoidable.

That is not to say that we shouldn't especially scrutinize ourselves.

Judge me. I really truly do not care. I expect it. I embrace it.

We all do judge. The key is prudently because we all make mistakes now and then. I might think that you deliberately did something to dis me and deserve to die. If I told you why I had a hate on for you you might be shocked and apologize for an honest mistake. I deal with an insurance company that is hated. the reason is that they work on the assumption that everybody filing a claim is trying to rip them off. People change insurance companies.
Prejudice is the worse. That is where you make judgement before the person has done anything and often before you havbe even heard of them.
Judgement also blinds us to truth because of the tendency to class people behind labels. People and events are much more than simple pigeon hole labels. If I say somebody is a construction worker you form an image in your mind. That construction worker also happens to be a father, a sculpture, a gardener, coaches his kids soccer team and many other things. These things he does still tell you very little about the man.

don't judge unless you need to, and keep the judgement tied to specifics. That man coaching kids soccer might not be the most effective of coaches for winning but the kids have a blast and are safe.

We don't have the knowledge or understanding to judge others. For instance, if you spent all your savings and time building an orphanage, and then got invited to a pub one night and became drunk and a stranger saw you making a fool of yourself, how would they judge you? Or if a pedophile rapes a child and, later the same day, holds a door open for an old woman and you see only his second act, how would you judge him?

Only God knows EVERYTHING - our heart, our mind, our actions, our intent, our habits, our hopes and dreams, our disappointments, our attempts, our past, etc. Only He is able to judge us correctly and perfectly.

Of course, we ARE expected, as part of our daily lives, to judge people on s smaller scale, such as whether to give a hitchiker a ride, whether to ask someone on a second date, whether to accept a job with a certain employer, or which checker to use at the store. But this is not "real judgment" of a person - it's more like judging situations and possibilities, and then making choices.

There are no shoulds or shouldn't's. We all have Free Will.

I believe that we are not judged by our actions, We judge ourselves in the end.

There is a reaction to Every action we take , using our freedom.

Our effect wether negative or positive has an effect wether big or small on others around us.

In the end, I believe that we , (when we are out of the body) see our life decisions for what they are, and what they did.

Then, feeling every thing, we decide, (after seeing what the True Full reaction and effect it had on others was) , wether we should feel good about what we did or not. Wether we wasted time hurting others by our judgement of them, or wether we spent the time we had, learning and bringing to light our true great potential, and brought forth otthers potential of greatness as well.

wether we grew a garden of lights, or darkened those that had beauty which we had not been aware of untill the silent end.

We make constant judgments, every day, about everything we encounter, including people. The idea that we should not judge others is that we should not judge other people harshly and negatively (and all the time). This is obviously not a blanket statement, but more a general rule. So, it is acceptable to judge behaviors and outrageous things people have done, but not the person. Why? Because we aren't perfect, that energy is better used constructively or in improving ourselves and our world. I don't personally believe you shouldn't judge because it's not my job, but because who am I to say that another person is bad? Their behaviors, yes; the person, no. Honestly, I also think it's a good general rule because things suck when people are judgmental.

I think we all judge other people. We have to have some base to go on initialy. Like it or not a lot of people hold their isms.. when they judge initialy. I think it is a safety, or a way for someone to feel how SAFE the situation is encountering new people. Such a hard question realy, it ties in with so many other things. If you can live life without judging that would be quite a feat im sure!

people are people
we make judgements all the time and sometimes the judgement become a mistaken one because of lack of information or understanding the real situation.
I think if people stop making judgements, then people can truly learn from each other and the whole world will benefit from such..
unfortunately, those days are hard to come by becuase human beings are imperfect......
the same goes for trust..if a person trust another person and loses the trust...then there will be no more trust relationship between the 2 persons.
this goes for every human being regardless of ethnicity and race.

Judging someone is not necessarily a bad thing. If someone acts a way that might be dangerous, you want to be able to make that judgment so you know to stay away from them.

What is bad is that too many people PRE-judge people... they go by stereotypes rather than getting to know the person. They accept that they should hate someone just because they were raised that way, rather than taking the time to make a judgment for themselves.

And before we judge other people, I believe we should take a look at ourselves.

We can judge RIGHTEOUSLY like an example this question is clever. Now that didn't cause offense at all because it was righteously done. Judging isn't name calling or slandering someones character. That is what you would call just being rude. The scale would be knowing right and wrong. Judge based upon what is moral and right not for what you might believe or think of others.

Well there is this little part of scripture that says judge not lest ye be judged.

In other words MYOB, unless you want someone else to mind your's for you.

What good does judging a person do? Who says you're right in your assessments? Unless you KNOW absolutely every circumstance of person's life and were present at all of them so you really do know what happened and nobody ever is at every circumstance to use the vernacular butt out and live and let live.

Usually when we judge someone else, we do not fully know them or their circumstances. For instance, one day my friend and I were walking into a store and saw a woman who looked a mite forlorn, dirty, etc. She had on pants with paint all over them. I made the assumtion that she had probably been painting and if you need something quick, who wants to stop and clean up...just go get what you need. She made the judgement that she was "trailer trash" as she put it.
And yes, I believe that there is only One that can judge us.
