Yes there is, its called the white directory, you would have to agree for your number to be added to it when you get your number, hardly anyone does though

That's utter rubbish! They aren't like landlines where you keep the same number for years. Most people change their phone/number every 1/2 years so it would be impossible to keep the numbers in a directory.

i agree it would be a good idea.
however where it would fall down is that telephone directories control their size by being locally centric. mobiles by their very nature can be based anywhere and moved from geographical area to area therefore it would be necessary to list every one in the country and would be so large that it would be an ecological disaster to produce. not to mention a nightmare to keep up to date and current

Doubt it babe, can you imagine the size of it..? Just about every home has at least one mobile.... and I did say ALMOST... there are more likely ways to find out someones number. x.
