As a computer sales and repair associate, my experience with Toshiba has been this. If you're looking to save a little money and don't mind the possibility of an unreliable system (or if you have someone who's good with computers) go right ahead and buy one. It has been mentioned that they have over-heating issues, and this is true. the heatsinks (what takes the heat off the critical parts of the computer) are not constructed or placed very well, and require constant cleaning with compressed air to avoid overheating. As far as the rest of the hardware goes, they dont have very many problems, but if you don't mind spending a little extra money, HP and Gateway would be the next step up.

For quality Toshiba is one of the premiere companies hands down. Sony and Toshiba stand above the HPS the Dells The Gateways defintely and the emachines. Compaq is somewhere between a gateway and a compaq -- yes even though theyve merged with HP, their still kept as two separate production lines.
Emachines customer services is alittle better but if you never have to call them then that really doesnt matter, does it.
Go Toshiba! If you value quality.
Only laptop I aim for.
Desktops, never came across any of them(toshibas), but my preference is Emachine to recommend believe that or not. For value desktop.
I make my own now but Ive given emachines as gifts and always have my old faihful on standby should anyting ever happen to my favorite toy.
Hope it helps, just know you cant go wrong with a Toshiba Laptop

Toshiba notebooks are certainly excellent computers. Although they make lack some features available in Sony computers and some HPs, they make excellent laptops. In my experience, they have been quite reliable and very user-friendly. Their only detraction is their customer support hot-line. The support is quite terrible, but the computer is excellent. I was able to set my home wireless network up in minutes. They are also a good value for money, and many features come packed in their laptops as low as $700 USD. Hope this helps, and happy holidays!

This is my 2nd Toshiba laptop - I upgraded. I've never had to call customer service and really like mine.......Has every thing on it and the sound is great. I bought my neice an entry level toshiba when she started college about 4 mths ago, for all the abuse that one takes well worth the money.

Really liked the toshiba laptop I had. Only grumble was some of the software preinstalled on it. that was easily removed though.

I love my Toshiba laptop, except the Network Card ports broke. It's pretty old and I would disconnect and reconnect the cards a lot.
