Democrats can and will raise taxes. It is what drives them to get out of bed in the morning. It makes them sexually aroused to yank more of your money and mine from our wallets and create more beaurocratic nonsensical programs to "help" others which will never work. It feeds their Quixotic self loving, smug latte drinking sense of self worth to do so.

It's not going to happen before 2008, as someone above stated. However, you need to get ouf of the mindset that taxes are "bad." How do you think a government runs its programs? Funds its treasury?

Sorry, but the Republicans have been using "tax cuts" as the drug to lure people to the polls for 25 years. It doesn't work, because Republicans are always running deficits. Clinton ran a surplus, which Bush inherited, and it was immediately squandered. We are in debt up to our eyeballs because of the horrible economic practices of the Bush administration.

Taxes need to be raised on the wealthy and decreaed on the poor and middle class. This is the opposite of the Laffer curve theory of economics (otherwise known as "trickle down"). Trickle down doesn't work. It's simply a Ponzi scheme to keep more money in the hands of the wealthy by cutting their taxes. It also shortchanges our Treasury because we don't collect that money from the wealthy.

Clinton managed to pay down the national debt and run a surplus by cutting taxes on the poor and middle class and raising taxes on the rich. How else do you think you do it? This leaves more money in the hands of the working class that they can then spend, stimulating the economy. The wealthy can afford to pay more taxes, and they should be. Under Bush, the rich had their taxes cut, and the working class had their taxes increased. Does this make sense to you?

Dude, Tax and spend democrats are better than NO TAX and spend like Bush is doing now (and every republican has done before him).

It is simple elementary math. Get a clue.

By the way, the dems wouldn't be "raising" the taxes, they would be putting the taxes back to where they were before Bush "lowered" them.

Even if taxes were raised to 100% tomorrow, it wouldn't cover the full debt obligations of our government. Go read the Treasury Report for 2006. Total US Debt is over $55 TRILLION(yes, with a 'T')! Our great^5 grandchildren are going to be shackled to this debt, if our country can even stay afloat that long.

They will raise taxes but it won't be used to eliminate the deficit. It will be used for all those vote buying schemes that politicians love. You see deep down they know that their votes frequently violate the U.S. Constitution so they can't be re-elected on their voting record. So they cook up some new 'tax on the rich or on corporations' that plays so well to those who envy the wealthy. What they NEVER admit is that all taxes on production hurt everyone, albeit not equally.

Unless America goes into a for profit business. Sooner or later we will have to pay.

I'm sure the leaders of both parties want to blame the other. Bottom line unless Bush finds a few trillion dollars, we the people will pay pay pay.

No. No more than the Republicans overturned what they attributed to the democrats when they won both houses (and the presidency) several years ago. We still battle the same issues today as we did back then.

They may be forced to since the concepts of the Republicans amassed a record debt...would you blame the people who racked up this tremendous debt or the people who raise taxes to pay it off...seems like the fools who amassed the debt own the blame
