Lots of cultural and regional variations.

In the UK Christmas Dinner is a lunchtime meal, or slightly later. 1-2pm (-ish) One should be feeling full and sleepy for the Queen's speech at 3 pm. On the 25th

Where my parents now live in France, it was customary (less so now) to sit down to the big Christmas meal after returning from midnight Mass. Bed around 4-5 o'clock?

When Christmas presents should be opened is another variable.
In our family it was after Christmas dinner, so 3-4 pm on Christmas day. The small presents in the Christmas stockings was to occupy the children for Christmas day morming while the adults were cooking. Seemed to work for us.
